Confirmation

THE MEANING OF THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

Through the sacrament of confirmation, the baptized receive the grace of the Holy Spirit. As the name suggests, the sacrament of confirmation is to confirm baptism, strengthen, and perfect the baptismal grace. It aims to relate the baptized more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate more firmly to Christ and make stronger the link of all the baptized with the Church. It allows him to witness the Christian faith by word and deed. "By the sacrament of Confirmation, the link with the Church of the baptized is made more perfect, they are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit and thus more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and by action as true witnesses of Christ "(Lumen Gentium 11). The grace of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is the fundamental effect of this sacrament.
